Frequently asked questions

Here are answers about getting started, fees, session options, and working with me. If your question isn’t covered, you can contact me with a general question.

Getting started

How do I get started, and what happens during the consultation?

Start with a free 20-minute phone consultation. We’ll talk about what brings you here, your questions, and whether working together feels like a fit. I’ll call you at the scheduled time. You can book your phone consultation on the Contact page.

Is my consultation confirmed when I book?

Yes. Completing your booking through the Google appointment calendar on Contact confirms the consultation and adds it to my calendar. Check the time zone shown before booking. Sending a general inquiry does not reserve a time.

What if I’m unsure about therapy or which service to choose?

You can reach out without knowing the right category or having a clear plan. The consultation gives us a place to discuss your concerns and possible next steps.

What can I expect in the first therapy session?

We talk about what brings you in, what you want to work on, and your experiences so far. There is no pressure to have it all figured out. I ask questions and share observations, and you can tell me when something doesn’t fit.

Is the first therapy session free?

The free offer is the 20-minute phone consultation, not a full intake session. Fees and any coverage arrangements for therapy are confirmed before starting.

Fees and payment

What do sessions cost, and how long are they?

The standard private-pay rate is $120 for a 50-minute session, for both individual and couples/relationship therapy. This standard rate applies across service types.

Can sessions include additional partners or run longer?

For polyamorous and consensually non-monogamous relationships, sessions can include all partners involved. Sessions with additional partners may require a higher fee or more time. We’ll discuss the session length and any higher fee in advance.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes. Sliding scale is available on request. You can ask about it during the consultation.

Do you accept insurance?

I work on a private-pay basis. If you plan to use Medicaid, please contact me before scheduling to confirm whether I can see you under your coverage. Medicaid enrollment details are still being confirmed.

Superbills are available for private-pay clients who want to seek reimbursement from their insurer.

What is a superbill, and does it guarantee reimbursement?

A superbill is an itemized document you can submit to your insurer when seeking reimbursement. I need to include a diagnosis when providing one. Reimbursement is not guaranteed. Check your plan’s requirements and coverage with your insurer.

How can I pay? Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?

I accept credit and debit cards, cash, checks, and HSA/FSA cards.

Location and session options

Where are in-person sessions?

My office is at 8120 Sheridan Blvd, Suite C-100, Westminster, CO 80003. You can find office directions and contact details on the Contact page.

Do you offer virtual therapy? Can I attend while traveling?

Yes, I offer virtual therapy as well as in-person sessions. Clients must maintain a primary residence in Colorado and be physically in Colorado during every session. Being a Colorado resident is not enough if you are outside the state at the time of the session.

Do you work with children or teens?

I work with adults 18 and older. If you’re looking for support for someone younger, I can offer referrals.

Services and fit

What kinds of therapy do you offer?

I offer individual and couples/relationship therapy, including support for non-monogamy, infidelity and betrayal, and sex or intimacy concerns. My approach is LGBTQIA+ affirming. You can compare services and specialties without needing to choose one before we talk.

Can I come on my own to talk about a relationship?

Yes. In individual therapy, your experience, needs, and choices are the focus. Another person does not need to attend for you to work on relationship concerns.

Are you LGBTQIA+ affirming?

Yes. Your identity may be central to what you want to discuss, or simply part of who you are. I offer an affirming space without treating identity as a problem to solve.

Do you work with non-monogamous or kink-involved clients?

I work with individuals and relationships exploring or practicing consensual non-monogamy, open relationships, and polyamory. You do not need to choose a particular relationship structure to seek support.

I also welcome kink-involved clients. We can discuss your experiences, needs, and boundaries without assuming they are a problem to fix.

Can you help with recurring conflict or infidelity? Do we have to stay together?

I work with relationship patterns, recurring conflict, and the impact of infidelity or broken agreements. We can discuss whether individual or relationship sessions fit what you’re seeking. I don’t assume that staying together is the goal.

Policies and other questions

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances.

For private-pay sessions, same-day cancellations with at least one hour’s notice have a flat $50 fee. Cancellations with less than one hour’s notice and missed sessions are charged at your full session rate.

Medicaid clients are not charged cancellation or missed-session fees.

Do you diagnose clients?

For private-pay clients, I do not require a diagnosis unless you want one or request a superbill. A diagnosis is required for Medicaid clients and will be discussed with you in advance.

What if I have a question first or can’t find a consultation time?

You can send a brief inquiry through the Contact page. Please leave out sensitive clinical details, including in email or voicemail. An inquiry does not reserve a consultation, and submitting a booking or inquiry does not establish a therapeutic relationship. These contact channels are not monitored for emergencies.
